What did we do?
Get creative and change an off the shelf children’s teepee into a unique and stimulating playhouse. Whilst it may not be a quick and easy project, your hard work will be well rewarded.
Base level
The teepee was painted in two coats of Wood Stain and Protect Warm Stone.
The Pattern
The design was roughly worked out by placing the panels on the floor, fanning out from the centre point.
Using a pencil and a long straight edge, mark out the pattern, making sure it’s as random as possible. The triangles should be larger at the base, gradually getting smaller as you near the top.
Once you are happy with the design, use Frog Tape to run along the pencil lines. Make sure the edges are pressed down firmly.
The colour choice was based on a rainbow, running from greens and blue at the base, through to yellow and orange, and then to pink and red at the top.
The design was brought to life with all shapes painted in Wood Stain and Protect Baby Pink, Cranberry Crush, Fire Engine Red, Marigold, Mustard Yellow, Primrose, Cornflower, Bristol Blue, Grass Green, Willow.
Construction
Before starting to paint, mark each triangle with the colour you are going to use, trying to make sure each triangle is surrounded by a different colour. Paint the triangles with one coat and leave to dry before applying a second coat.
Once all the panels are painted and completely dry, remove the Frog Tape. The wigwam can then be constructed in situ.
