This month's colours – APRIL
April has got to be one of the best months of the year. Spring has well and truly started and despite the odd & rather erratic weather (which I think just adds to the fun of this month), the countryside and gardens are full of beautiful fresh greenery and bright happy flowers.
The days are longer and lighter and the Easter holiday is a welcome addition to the season. After much winter pruning and planning it’s now time to crack on with some jobs whilst they’re still nice and easy to do. My well pruned climbing roses are looking nice and healthy with lots of fresh growth. Now I need to put up a couple of trellises to support all of the new growth and display them to their full beauty.
I’ll be painting one trellis in Royal Exterior Lemon Yellow to act as a beautiful backdrop and support to my Rambling Rector rose, and a second trellis in Rose Pink to compliment the stunning pink stripes of my Ferdinand Pichard.
These colours are also inspired by the trend for the pastel colours of sugared almonds that have leapt straight from my childhood onto the catwalks. Royal Eggshell Blue, Lemon Yellow, Rose Pink and Meadow Green are the colours of this favourite treat.
