Protek Supports Ideal Young Gardeners

For the second year running Protek were invited to join a select number of industry giants to be listed as suppliers to the Ideal Young Gardeners competition.

The competition is put on by the Ideal Home Show in association with TV Gardener David Domoney and the Prince’s Foundation for Building Community. The competition celebrates young ‘green’ talent and six of the UK’s leading horticultural colleges went head-to-head to create a show stopping sustainable garden visited by thousands of visitors at the Ideal Home Show.

Each college was given a 5.5m x 4m plot to both design and build a unique and sustainable garden to inspire city dwellers, showing what can be achieved in urban locations.

The gardens were judged by a panel led by TV Gardeners David Domoney and Diarmuid Gavin, along with Edith Platten, Director or Skills from The Prince's Foundation, Julia Goodwin, Editor of House Beautiful magazine, Leigh Morris, President of the Horticultural Trade Association, and Carol Paris, Chief Executive of the Horticultural Trade Association.

For the third year running Chichester College were crowned 2014 ‘Young Gardeners of the Year’. Bridgwater College created a harmonious contemporary design crafted as a tranquil haven for a family, earning them a Silver Gilt award. Protek’s Parsonage Cream and Baby Pink from the Wood Stain & Protector range and Royal Exterior Fuchsia Pink were applied to timber fascia’s forming the walls and structure of the garden design. Royal Exterior Clear was applied to border bedding retaining walls and raised seating area.
