Spring is on its way!

Protek Royal Exterior

An easy way to refresh your garden for the coming year is to add some colour from the Protek Woodcare range. We make ecofriendly stains that enhance the wood’s natural beauty and gorgeous wood paints that come in a full range of heritage and contemporary colours. All our products are based on the same water-based low VOC technology and have evolved into products that meet modern tastes while remaining a technical wood treatment.

Protek Decking Stain, Stable Coat and Shed & Fence offer appealing natural wood stain finishes in the traditional browns and greens. Royal Superior is a micro-porous coating that is a high build formula, after 2-3 coats the Natural Stains part of the range build to give a long-lasting varnish like finish.

Protek Royal Off Whites and Soft Colours

If it is the painted wood finish you want then look to the Protek Royal Off Whites and Soft Colours sections of the range, it is the perfect product. It is so much more than a paint, it is a high grade water repelling timber treatment which is also micro-porous, allowing the wood to breathe.  This makes it perfect to use on conservatories, summerhouses, gates, cladding and garden furniture. The unique formulation is a water-based acrylic and alkyd hybrid that incorporates a polyurethane dispersion based on linseed oil.

The ingenious thing about our wood stain-paint hybrid products is that you can just put one thin coat on if you want to achieve a light touch finish and each extra coat increases colour and sheen.

Protek is just so nice and easy to use, very low odour, easy water wash up, brilliant finish.

Make your timber products last longer

Protek Wood Preserver

Protek manufacture a proper Wood Preservative that is available to buy for DIY use. It has passed all the stringent EU testing and is fully approved to preserve your timber. Some timber is already pre-treated when you buy it so there is no need to use a brush on preservative but some is sold un-treated.

Protek Wood Preserver is a clear brush on pre-treatment that protects timber against wood destroying rot and discolouring fungi. It is moisture regulating and provides an adhesive surface making it a great primer preparation that can be easily over painted or stained with Protek Wood Stain and Protector, Royal Exterior and Restol Wood Oil.

Protek Wood Preserver penetrates wood easily and thereby gets deep into the wood’s inner layers and has the huge advantage of being low VOC. Protek Wood Preserver is suitable for use on outside timbers that are not in direct ground contact.

The Shed used was pre-treated by the manufacturer with Tanilith E. The exterior of the shed was then Protected with Natural UV Extra and Dark Oak wood oil from the Restol range. The interior walls had a single brightening coat of Whitewash wood oil.

Into the Blue

Blue continues to be a strong trend for SS17. It can be seen as the designer’s statement colour from the catwalks, to home interiors and gardens. Particularly popular is a vivid lapis blue (Royal Somerset Blue, Wood Stain & Protector Cornflower) as is a more muted powdery pastel shade (Royal Eggshell Blue and Ice Blue). Through time artists such as Giotto, Cezanne, Renoir, Picasso and especially Matisse have been beguiled by this colour and it is used in their most memorable masterpieces. In creating atmosphere in a home or garden heavenly blue offers peace serenity and a promise of warm Mediterranean days.

Shades of Grey

Grey comes in so many different shades, tones and tints that we are continually adding them to colour range This gives you the choice to find that perfect colour. I think we can now safely say that they are not a passing trend but instead the go to colour to add drama, sophistication or tranquillity.

The first grey we made was Silver Fir in the Wood Stain & Protector range, a high white pigmented grey with a tint of black that works well to give a cool industrial feel. To go alongside that we next made the darker Gun Metal Grey, which was and still is hugely popular. Now you will see the beautiful Sky Grey Blue with a light tint of blue in the Wood Stain & Protector range and the darker Royal Mendip Mist to compliment it. Then the warm earthy hues of Dove Grey, Warm Clay and Warm Stone. Even the off-whites of Taupe and China Clay we would class on our grey-scale. Our latest addition is Anthracite Grey in the Royal range, it is a real statement colour.

Why not take advantage of our Winter Sale and buy some Shades of Grey, remember the sample pots are included in the sale, if you are undecided on what shade you need.
