How to make an outdoor kitchen on a budget
Outdoor kitchens have become a must-have feature in the garden; but when it comes to cost, the sky is the limit! Buying marble worktops, or a Big Green Egg BBQ, or an Ooni Pizza Oven is enough to break the budget. But we have an economical hack to make your outdoor kitchen affordable.
Outdoor kitchens are great for entertaining guests. You can keep the smells of the grill outside, and enjoy a unique, personal dining experience. Cooking and eating outside means you can get away from distractions, and spend un-disrupted quality time with your family and friends. Sit in the sun, and show off the kitchen you designed! You can also save money on eating out by bringing the restaurant to you.
Our guide below shows you how to make your outdoor kitchen a reality:

1. Take a FÖRHÖJA trolley from IKEA and add a couple of wooden crates for storage. Don’t worry, once treated with Protek it is weather resistant and can be used outside!
2. Select your colours. We used NEW colours from our range to create a rustic kitchen.

3. Start to paint. You can use a sprayer, or a paint brush. Our paint is water-based and contains low VOCs, so they are safe to use on kitchen cabinets. Just do not use our paint on areas which will be in direct contact with food.

4. Customise your cabinets with new handles or knobs.

5. Voila! A picture-perfect outdoor kitchen that works perfectly with your scheme, and doesn't cost the earth. Now, anyone for pizza?
