Table Makeover

Upcycling furniture is an easy DIY project to try in the long Winter months ahead. Sue had this small nest of dark brown tables at home, but they looked outdated in her modern home.

A fresh clean look was sought, which would also coordinate with current décor in the living room, so blue / grey tones were chosen, and then the prepping commenced!

The tables had originally been heavily varnished, so needed sanding back to bare wood before any new treatment could be applied. As they were a dark hardwood, Stain Blocking Primer was painted on first and allowed to fully dry. This should stop any tannins from the wood bleeding through final paint surface.

The complimentary colours of Silver Grey, Hadspen Blue and Anthracite Grey were chosen, one for each of the tables. Three coats were applied, leaving each enough time to dry in between the next. This gave a wonderful solid colour finish, that would also act as a hard-wearing surface. Less that a litre of each colour was used, so this would be a great way to use up any left-over paint from your summer projects.

This simple upcycling project has given a new lease of life to these tables and they look fab in their stylish new home.
