Wood Preserver Application Guide

Handle product and dry freshly treated wood in areas with good ventilation. Do not breathe sanding dust.

Do not allow this product to reach aquatic environments, the ground or the sewer system. Protect environment (e.g. soil, plants, aquatic environment) from splashes of Protek Wood Preserver.

FOR INDUSTRY USE

Freshly treated timber must be stored under shelter or on impermeable hardstanding to prevent direct losses to soil or water and that any losses must be collected for reuse or disposal.

• PROCESSING TEMPERATURE: 10 - 30℃ (wood and product)
• PROFESSIONAL/INDUSTIAL USES: Dipping or flow coating in special facilities and equipment. Spraying in closed devices.otective clothing (overalls) and synthetic rubber/PVC gloves when using.
• NON-PROFESSIONAL/PROFESSIONAL: Apply by synthetic brush designed for water-borne products, spreading thinly and evenly along wood texture.
• NUMBER OF COATS REQUIRED: 2-3 depending on wood species and surface characteristics.
• COVERAGE: Effective against wood destroying fungi and blue stain at 160ml/m2
• DRYING TIME: 12 h under normal conditions (20℃/65% rel. Humidity). Low temperatures, increased humidity and ingredients of some wood types may increase drying time. Allow a minimum of 24 hours drying time under normal conditions before application of a top coat.
• CLEANING TOOLS: Clean tools immediately after use with warm soap water, subsequently rinse with clear water or use commercial brush cleaner.
• SUBSEQUENT SURFACE TREATMENT: Treated timber must be coated with a suitable finishing paint (top coat). Apply the final coat directly after drying of the primer on the woods surface. • Store out of reach of children and animals.

NOT FOR INDOOR USE. NOT SUITABLE FOR USE WITH A DOMESTIC SPRAYER.

SURFACE PREPARATION - STEP 1

Surfaces should be cleaned with warm water, detergent and a stiff brush. Make sure that all mould or algae is removed and rinse well. Ensure that timber is fully dry. For best results previous treatments should be removed or well weathered.

COMPATIBILITY

Overcoating of Protek Wood Preserver is possible with most commercial solvent and water based final top coats. However, compatibility and adhesion should be tested in a sample.

STORAGE

Store product in tightly closed original containers at temperatures above 0℃ and below 30℃.

DISPOSAL INFORMATION

Completely empty cans can be recycled as normal. Dispose left over product in the original container in compliance with local regulations. Do not dispose of product residues or cleaning wastes into the sewer system (drains), into waterways or into the soil. Do not reuse empty containers.

Colourless to yellowish.

FIRST AID MEASURES

AFTER SKIN CONTACT: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing and wash skin immediately with plenty of water and soap. Obtain medical attention if symptoms occur.
AFTER CONTACT WITH EYES: Rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice if symptoms occur.
IF SWALLOWED: Rinse the mouth with water and give small amounts of water to drink (not in the case of loss of consciousness). Do not induce vomiting unless expressly instructed by medical personnel. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that vomit does not enter the lungs. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.
AFTER INHALATION: Move the exposed person into fresh air. Keep person warm and at rest. Provide artificial respiration by a trained person if breathing is irregular or arrested. It may be dangerous to the person providing aid by mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Seek medical advice if symptoms are severe or long lasting. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.

The precautions generally recommended for handling wood protection products should be observed, e.g. wearing of protective clothing, safety goggles and protective gloves (e.g. nitrile rubber gloves). When using do not eat, drink or smoke.

Wood preservatives contain biocidal active ingredients to protect wood against pests. They must be applied according to the instructions for use and only in those cases where protective measures are necessary and where they pose no practical risk to man. They should generally not be used in living or recreational areas. They must not be applied to wood which is likely to come into prolonged contact with the skin or to wood which comes into direct contact with food and feedstuffs.

Protek Wood Preserver is not classified according to EU legislation.

Contains 3-iodo-2-propynil butyl carbamate. May produce an allergic reaction.

Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.

Active ingredient: 0.7g/kg (0.7g/l) iodopropynyl butyl carbamate (IPBC) and 0.4g/kg (0.4g/l) Tebuconazole.
